Teaching Math for Social Justice

This conversation will focus on experiences teaching Math for Social Justice at Kettering University. This interdisciplinary elective employed humanities, social sciences, and mathematics to address human trafficking, climate change, and voting rights. We will discuss the importance of integrating mathematics and liberal arts to address social justice issues.

Specific topics will include

  • Linking social justice topics with math content.
  • Creating meaningful course materials.
  • Diverse delivery modalities.
  • Student (and faculty) learning outcomes.

Let us explore the challenges and rewards of integrating different disciplines and the lessons learned.
